RS COUNSELING SERVICES

Welcome! My name is Ruby and I am an Integrative Counsellor who works with Adults and Children from age 11+. I have experience working with a range of presentations, including anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout and Neurodivergence.  and I have a special interest in working with adults and young people who have trouble saying no, holding boundaries for themselves and difficulty meeting their needs. People who are hiding their authentic-self through fear of judgement and confusion.

I help my clients increase their self-awareness and get to know themselves on a deeper level - learning new perspectives and unlearning harmful ways of thinking. I help you explore your inner world so that you can make decisions in alignment with your values and see change in your behaviour if that is what you are hoping for.

It takes a lot to ask for help, especially in a world that can still stigmatise mental health, leaving you feeling as though something is wrong with you. I try to make that step as easy as possible for you with a warm welcome, laughter (yes we will laugh in sessions), psychoeducation and a relaxing nature-themed environment. Bring your own drinks and snacks if you like and wear something comfortable. The space is not something to be scared of. Bring a blanket or fidget toy if you need it (although I have both here for you).

Below you will find more about how I work as a therapist and some of the issues and problems that I can work with. This may help you in figuring out if I am the right fit for you. Don’t hesitate to get in touch via the contact tab for more information.

  • "Ruby has been incredible in helping me understand my strengths and reframe elements of my life and identity. She has been empathic, friendly, and also a lot of fun!"

    Adult Client

  • “I've had counselling before and was unsure about having it again as I wasn't sure that the previous counsellor helped me as much as I needed. I am glad I did come back to Counselling as the service provided by Ruby was really good and much different than previously. I found it really helpful because she listened to me and asked questions but also gave me some background/theory behind why I might be feeling that way and specific ways I could improve things. I felt it was really useful to me to have more guidance on things I could do and ways to handle certain situations rather than someone passively listening to me. It was also useful to me to know the theory behind it. Having certain things to work on between sessions was also really helpful for me. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I feel helped a lot.”

    Adult Client

  • “Ruby really helped me over the last 12 weeks to support me in being able to talk about past trauma, emotions and negative impacts various relationships have had on me. She had great knowledge and understanding of different mental health conditions and different approaches to deal with them. I have found the sessions useful and will continue to use the things I’ve learnt and talked about to help me in the future. Thank you, Ruby.”

    Adult Client

  • "Really do thank Ruby for all her help, very positive and really helpful to me. Ruby is brilliant and very understanding. A really good listener just can't find the words to thank her enough. Overwhelmingly good at her profession 11 out of 10 !!!!! Thank you so much Ruby, you helped me and got the skeletons out of my head!!! And enabled me to talk about them so, so good for me."

    Adult Client

  • "I really think counselling is a helpful tool and can be used for anyone since everyone has problems. I loved my counsellor Ruby, and she was very nice. I think I have changed in a lot of ways and can definately deal with everything better."

    Child/Young Person Client

  • “It feels good to be listened to by someone who is not involved or part of your family or social groups. It enabled me to understand why I felt the way I do about things or about how I dealt with things in my life and that I now understand this; I don't always need to do what I did before. It felt good, it got hard in places but by talking through and being listened to, helped me to move forward.”

    Adult Client

  • Ruby, thank you for allowing me to feel heard and seen. I can talk about my problems now that I know there is someone who cares.

  • Throughout my sessions with Ruby, I felt validated and heard for a change. She allowed me to come into contact with my feelings and conclude things about myself that I was not aware of. I feel I can express myself without judgement with her and I am grateful for the experience.
